With the release of MainWP Child plugin version 5.2.1, the Unique Security ID feature is now enabled by default in the MainWP Child plugin settings.
This update also re-enables the Unique Security ID requirement automatically if the MainWP Child plugin is deactivated and reactivated.
When you try to reconnect the Child Site which has Unique Security ID enabled, you will see this error message on the Dashboard: This child site is set to require a unique security ID. Please enter it before the connection can be established.
This behavior is specific to version 5.2.1 and does not apply to versions 5.2 or the upcoming 5.3.
Steps to Reconnect Your Child Site Using the Unique Security ID:
Retrieve the Unique Security ID from the Child Site:
Log in to the WordPress Admin of the affected child site.
Navigate to: Settings > MainWP Child > Settings tab.
Locate the Unique Security ID field and copy its value.
Update the Child Site Settings on the MainWP Dashboard:
Reconnect the Site:
Finding the Unique Security ID when the Child plugin is hidden using White Label extension
If the MainWP Child plugin is hidden using the White Label extension, follow these steps to locate the Unique Security ID:
Log in to the WordPress Admin of the child site.
Navigate to your-child-site.com/wp-admin/options.php
Search for the Unique Security ID field: mainwp_child_uniqueId
You can use your browser’s find feature (Ctrl+F or Command+F) to search for it.Copy the value from this field.
Continue from step 2. of the instructions above to paste the copied Unique Security ID into the MainWP Dashboard and reconnect the site.
