Child Plugin 5.2.1: Reconnecting Child Sites with Unique Security ID
Updated over a month ago

With the release of MainWP Child plugin version 5.2.1, the Unique Security ID feature is now enabled by default in the MainWP Child plugin settings.

This update also re-enables the Unique Security ID requirement automatically if the MainWP Child plugin is deactivated and reactivated.

When you try to reconnect the Child Site which has Unique Security ID enabled, you will see this error message on the Dashboard: This child site is set to require a unique security ID. Please enter it before the connection can be established.

This behavior is specific to version 5.2.1 and does not apply to versions 5.2 or the upcoming 5.3.

Steps to Reconnect Your Child Site Using the Unique Security ID:

  1. Retrieve the Unique Security ID from the Child Site:

    • Log in to the WordPress Admin of the affected child site.

    • Navigate to: Settings > MainWP Child > Settings tab.

    • Locate the Unique Security ID field and copy its value.

Shows the UI of the MainWP Child plugin settings.

  2. Update the Child Site Settings on the MainWP Dashboard:

    • Go to MainWP > Sites > Manage Sites.

    • Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save Settings.

  3. Reconnect the Site:

    • After saving the settings, click on the Reconnect icon

Shows the UI of the MainWP Dashboard, highlighting the Reconnect button.
