How to install a plugin on sites that already have a certain plugin installed
Updated over a month ago

This document covers the scenario where you would wish to install a plugin on Child Sites that already have a certain plugin installed.

This means you can follow these steps to install a new version of a plugin on sites that already have that same plugin installed.

This can come in particularly handy when a premium plugin uses a non-standard way of checking and performing updates, so updating it manually becomes necessary.

  1. Navigate to Sites > Plugins > Manage Plugins

  2. Change the view to Show Plugins per Site

  3. Select the child sites among which to look for that certain plugin.

    1. For this scenario, you’ll probably want to select all sites.

  4. In the Select Status dropdown, select the desired status

    1. This can be Active, Inactive or Active & Inactive depending on your need

  5. In the Search Options field, type in the name of the plugin

  6. Click the Show Plugins button

  7. The table will now display all sites that have that plugin installed

  8. Select all or some sites from the table, and click the Install to Selected Site(s) button

  9. This button will take you to the Plugins > Install plugins page, with the desired Child Sites already pre-selected in the sidebar according to your selection in the previous step

  10. You can now install the desired plugin either by Installing it from the WordPress.org or by Uploading a .zip file
